Description:

Gorgeous Bear was on SASA PTS list Sat. 5/13 at 4:30 pm so we tagged him to save his life. Shelter favorite but they could not extend his time anymore due to being over-crowded with dogs. Now we need a foster home for ASAP. We will need to pay for emergency boarding for him until we can find him a foster home. He is super dog and people friendly. Sweetie. Loves attention exercise basic training and cuddly. Donations to help pay for his emergency boarding is greatly needed and appreciated. 6/2/23: Bear is doing great at this temp. foster home. He did great in car ride. Very happy loved being brushed watching for squirrels in yard and within a day he was normal calm and relaxes inside home. He's a sweetie. He is great with car rides when fh visits her mom and at dog parks. No cats. 7/25/23: Current schedule: 1/2 hour walk in the morning and the afternoon. Early evening he gets about 45 minutes at dog park to run and play. He eats his meals & sleeps great at night in his crate easily 9 hrs. He’s very food motivated & learns quickly when there are high-value treats. He enjoys being brushed. He seems fine with dremel tool nail trims. He’s tolerant of getting his teeth brushed- his back teeth are yellow but his front are white. He’s fine with checking his paws regularly for foxtails after walks. He’s very curious (not fearful at all) & likes to explore everything when he goes to a new environment. He loves squeaky toys but he destroys the squeak in them soon. He developed good impulse control with food & is much better waiting at doors/yd gates & crossing streets these days. He knows sit down wait (still working on stay for over a minute) drop it paw/shake bow lie down cover nose but his recall & heel are not good once outside of the yard. 50% of the time he will play fetch in my side yd but only for about 5x before it bores him. He’s much better at not pulling on his leash on walks but an alert person still needs to walk him as he’s highly reactive (barking jumping & pulling) when he sees squirrels or cats. If I can distract him with a high value treat before he’ll not react bad to dogs on walks. He will ignore my treats when it comes to squirrels & cats though. Not recommended for a cat household.
