Male Dog, German Shepherd Dog

German Shepherd Dog / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (Medium Coat)

Description:

Wilson went to a foster for a few nights and here is what they had to report. Wilson was so happy to spend the night & was a great house guest. Wilson did not destroy or chew anything In the home nor did he have any potty accidents! He was fine being left alone free roam (no barking, whinning or trying to escape). He was left for 3 hrs without issue.Wilson knows how to use a doggy door too and really enjoyed being able to go inside and outside whenever he wanted. He relaxed quickly In the home setting.Wilson has a super high toy drive! This boy could fetch till the end of time. When he plays too hard too long he can jump and mouth a bit but quickly settles with some redirection (give a toy or treat) and does well ignored. Staying calm and even keel around him helps him stay calm too. We would recommend a teen home with no small kids for this reason. If you reach for a toy without an exchange he will try and snatch the toy before you can. He needs consistent work in this area in a positive reinforcement based approach.Wilson also:traveled great in the car.He knows sit and drop it.Is affectionate and did well meeting new people & new dogs.He did great meeting dogs of all sizes (he was appropriate and friendly; neutral and non-reactive even when dogs barked at him!). He is much more interested in his toys than he is with other dogs! We practiced exchanges - toy for a toy and he picked it up quickly.Wilson is VERY strong on Leash and currently does pull so will need work in this area: We recommend exercising him first in the backyard with some fetch and sniff games before going on a walk. He is also very treat motivated which will help with continued training; a little focus onimpulse control and loose leash walking… and there’s no doubt this boy will be an amazing BFF!Wilson slept all through the night; he started on the foot of our bed and then made his way to his doggy bed half way through. This goofy young active dog has SO much potential with the right home.
