Description:
Where are our scruffy dog lovers at? Meet Skipper! Skipper is estimated to be 4 years old and is a sweet boy with a heart of gold. He is an affectionate and mellow guy who loves cuddles and his daily strolls around the neighborhood. He is a pretty go-with-the-flow pup who is happy to join you for dates at the local brewery or a morning spent snuggled in bed. Skipper is fully grown, but is underweight. He currently weighs about 9lbs, but could benefit from gaining a couple of pounds. Skipper was found as a stray and brought to a local shelter. No owner came to claim him, and he was stressed and grumpy at the shelter. One of the employees took him out for daily hangout sessions in her office and then home for foster. She discovered that Skipper was a totally different dog when out of the shelter. He was then transferred to us so that he can continue to thrive in a foster home until he finds his forever home. Skipper is such a wonderful little guy, and his foster parents only have great things to say about him. He has the perfect amount of energy for someone who wants a walking buddy, but also wants a dog that can keep themselves amused during the workday. He is a great work-from-home buddy and is happy to play with his toys or nap on the couch while his foster parents work. He loves squeaky toys and is also a big fan of tasty treats. Skipper is a well-mannered guy, but doesn't seem to know things like sit, so he will need a family committed to working on his basic training with him. Skipper would make a great companion for a senior person or couple. Skipper loves other dogs and has been doing great with the other two small dogs in his foster home. He could also do well as an only dog. We haven't seen Skipper around cats, but we think he may do well with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Skipper could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 10 years and older. Skipper appears to be housetrained and does well hanging out in his crate or free roaming when his foster parents are gone for short periods. He is happy to sleep in his crate at night, but is even happier to sleep in bed with his foster parents. Skipper may do well living in an apartment with proper daily exercise. Skipper can't wait to become your new best friend! If he sounds like the little man you need in your life, submit an application today! Skipper's adoption fee is $250. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations before adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption.
