Description:
Hunter came to the shelter injured, and we suspect he may have been hit by a car. Early on, he showed signs of fear in his kennel - including growling, freezing, and displaying stress behaviors like whale eye and tense posture. These reactions were most likely rooted in fear and discomfort and staff immediately began working with him and we have seen positive improvements. Unfortunately, Hunter also seems to have a torn cruciate ligament on his right hind leg, and may need specialized surgery (TPLO) and continued medical management. Right now, he requires:- Strict exercise restriction- Daily pain medication- No running, jumping, or stairs- Ongoing veterinary careShelter life is not ideal for a dog recovering from this type of injury. The environment makes it difficult to properly restrict movement and provide the calm, consistent care he truly needs.
