Female Dog, Husky

Husky / Hound / Mixed (Short Coat)

Description:

Jarvi (A134191) is a 2-year-old alaskan husky mix who weighed nearly 50lbs at intake!04/13/24 This little girl with a sweet smile is Jarvi! She came to the shelter via the unmonitored dropoff kennels overnight with incomplete paperwork. Unfortunately, this means we do not know much about her history. Jarvi is said to be a sled dog that was too slow for the sprint team she was on. She may enjoy being on a rec team or even a slower, distance team! Since she arrived at the shelter, care staff have noticed a few things about Jarvi: 1) She LOVES to smile! 2)She may possibly be kennel trained, as she spent all night in the dropoff kennel and didn't even disturb her newspaper and desperately held her pee all night long. It appears Jarvi has lived outside most of her life, so she may need help learning the fine parts of being an inside dog, such as potty training and not jumping on counters. Jarvi is very treat motivated and takes them very gently. She will probably be a quick study in basic obedience with a certified trainer! While Jarvi's paperwork did not say much, it did mention that she runs in swing and wheel in the team. She may turn into a perfect little skijor companion that wants to cuddle up on the couch after! Please remember that huskies are a high energy breed and just because Jarvi didn't make the cut for the team does not mean she is an exception. Prospective adopters should be ready to meet her energy needs both physically and mentally. If you are interested in adding this sweet girl to your home, please give the shelter a call!
