Description:
NEWBIE ALERT!! Tuffy is approximately 1 yr old. His exact breed is not known for sure but many people see terrier/border collie in him. He weighs approximately 50lbs and is extremely sweet and gentle. He is also very smart. He knows how to sit and shake, walk on a leash and is potty trained all of which was learned in a very short period of time. We do not know his history, as he was abandoned near my home approximately 1 month ago. We could find no owner. He was extremely skittish and scared of people in general, as we are sure he had been mistreated somewhere along the way. His current foster started feeding him before the first really cold front that came in. They couldn't imagine how he could survive it. They left their garage door open just enough for him to come in out of the weather but not feel trapped. It took a few days of covering him up during the night when his blankets came off and letting him know he could trust them before he would let them pet him standing up. He has become the most appreciative dog you can ever imagine. They do believe now that rescue dogs are very special and loyal to anyone who is kind to them. Since then, he has begun staying in the house and loves it! He eats well and is not picky. He loves doing his tricks to get treats and of course he gets treats here and there just because! I think the thing he likes the most is getting rubbed and his stomach scratched. He actually expects it now. When he thinks it's time to get his stomach scratched he will come up and lay on his back and just wait! He's funny and very open to anything new. He loves to play with other dogs, likes men, women and children. He's still a little shy when he first meets someone but it only takes a little bit before he begins trusting. He also plays well with very small dogs. The fosters next door neighbor has a yorkie and they play together. He's playful but gentle enough not to hurt her. We honestly do not see a mean bone in his body. He is just so kind and sweet. His foster does wish they were at a place in their life to keep him. They do believe he is a very special dog and are excited that he will get a good home. He’s now fully vetted, altered and ready for his forever family! Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals. All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications! Thank you! ADOPTION APPLICATION LINK IN BIO! https://form.jotform.us/70898112177159
