Description:
THIS IS A COURTESY POST. Purrfect Friends Cat Rescue and its volunteers have not evaluated this animal in any way and can not be held liable for the current condition or future care of the animal. Please work with the specific contact in the posting to confirm if the animal is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested, etc. and for a complete description of the animal's personality and behavior traits. Luna started visiting my back porch a few months ago. One day she actually opened the screen door and walked into my apartment. So she has adopted me until we can find her a permanent home. Luna is relatively low energy. She loves to look outside and I walk her outside on a leash with a harness. She loves to be pet and brushed. But she loves her alone time and spends much of her time in her bed where she can see outside, in various boxes I have put out for her, or looking out the window in my bedroom. I have since learned Luna has some behavioral and, possibly, medical challenges that make it impossible for me to foster her any longer. Luna has relatively low energy and appears happy to nap most of the day. She will play on occasion but her favorite thing to do is look outside for other kitty (or animal) passersby. She has a scratch box and scratching posts that she loves to use. Since I work most of the day and am gone a lot on weekends, I assume she naps mostly throughout the day. Luna needs a home where things are quiet. She may prefer to have a human or another animal around because it strikes me that she seems stressed to be home alone. But I live alone and don't have any other pets, so I am not sure what an ideal home looks like for Luna with respect to the right number of people and if she will do well with other pets. Luna is spayed and up to date on all of her vaccinations. Since she came to live with me, I have been working with a vet to determine the reason behind her frequent loose stools. A steroid shot helped but according to the vet, is not a long term solution. We are working now with her diet to see if that will help. It seems the new diet might be making it better but whenever she gets stressed, like going to the vet or being left alone all day or overnight, she has these rounds of loose stool. X-rays are normal. Her bloodwork did indicate high blood sugar and I am working with her vet now to figure out if this is a medical issue (prediabetes or diabetes) or if it was just high due to her stressful visit to the vet. As I mentioned, she is on a special diet to see if that helps with what appears to be an irritable bowel. She also cleans her bottom on the rug / carpet but this may be tied to the fact she has recurrent loose stools.
