Description:

Here at the Adoption Center, our magical Matilda is looking to pull off her greatest trick—getting adopted! Sweet as honey and small enough to fit into the snuggest of boxes, Matilda is ready for an adoptive family of her very own. She’s a chatty young cat who loves to converse with her human and feline friends alike. Once she feels comfortable with someone, she also enjoys gentle pets on the head and cheeks. Like many cats, Matilda will be nervous in a new environment, so her ideal adopter is one who can give her the time and space she needs to adjust. The best way to help her feel more comfortable is with a slow approach, yummy treats and play sessions to build her confidence. In time, she’ll open up and be the brave little Matilda we know and love! Adopters should use a slow approach and avoid forced interactions. Slow and steady wins over Matilda’s affections. Children might be new for Matilda. A Matchmaker can help you explore if she’s the match you’re looking for. Matilda has previously lived with other cats. It is unknown how Matilda would do with a resident dog. A Matchmaker will be able to provide you with information about Matilda’s medical needs. A Matchmaker can help with tips to set Matilda up for success in the home! Are you the Miss Honey that little Matilda is looking for? This suggested adoption fee allows the ASPCA to continue our lifesaving work and help even more animals in need. We are grateful for any and all amounts given at the time of adoption.* For more information on adopting from the ASPCA, please visit www.aspca.org/adoptionsteps. **The ASPCA is committed to prioritizing the health and safety of the community, the animals in our care and our staff, and we are keeping a close eye on developments related to the COVID-19 crisis as they evolve. As such, the ASPCA Adoption Center in New York City is currently closed for in-person visitors. However, we are excited to offer remote adoptions using video conferencing! In-person meet-and-greets are also sometimes available or required for specific animals. Please check out our available cats and dogs above, and if one catches your eye, apply directly for him or her. An ASPCA Matchmaker will let you know if the animal you are interested in adopting is eligible for or requires an in-person meet-and-greet. Please note: Adoption applications are handled in the order they are received and submitting an adoption survey does not constitute a hold or guaranteed adoption. You can expect to receive automated emails updating you on your adoption status as our Matchmakers go through applications. Thank you for your patience, and we hope you find your match!**
