Male Cat, Oriental Short Hair

Oriental Short Hair / Mixed (Short Coat)

Description:

HISTORY: CHURCH, the elegant, eccentric gentleman with a voice like no other, was transferred to F&F for medical care and rehoming. TEMPERAMENT: If you’ve ever dreamed of sharing your life with a cat who looks like he stepped straight out of a sci-fi movie, CHURCH is your guy. This senior purebred Oriental Shorthair is the full package: impossibly long legs, a sleek muscular build, and those iconic oversized ears framing a face so angular it could model for Egyptian hieroglyphs. His piercing green eyes will lock onto yours, and he’ll gaze at you for what feels like forever — it’s his way of saying, “You’re my person.” CHURCH is sweet, smart, curious, and deeply affectionate — the epitome of a Velcro cat. Sit down anywhere, and he’ll appear like magic, ready to settle into your lap for hours. Bathroom trips? He considers those quality bonding moments. That said, CHURCH isn’t your average low-maintenance lap cat — he’s a high-needs companion who thrives on human connection and structure. He’s extremely vocal (and we mean extremely). His meow sounds more like a loud “WOW!” — and he’s not shy about using it, especially if he feels lonely or ignored. His new family will need to be patient and tolerant of his expressive personality, and ideally, have someone home much of the time. Because CHURCH is a senior Oriental Shorthair, there are some important health considerations. The breed is prone to dental issues. CHURCH has already had five teeth extracted and his remaining canines professionally cleaned. Regular veterinary dental checkups will be essential. He has a xiphoid deformity (a small protruding bone at his sternum). It’s harmless and doesn’t require treatment, but it can be surprising when you first feel it. Like many Orientals, he’s slender and fine-boned, so he needs warm, cozy spots to nap in. CHURCH also carries some emotional and behavioral quirks from his past. After spending time on the streets, he has food insecurities and currently eats small canned meals every couple of hours. He has no teeth, so he’s a messy eater, and his dining area will need regular wiping up — think of it as part of his charm. In return for your patience and devotion, CHURCH will offer endless love and loyalty. He’s the kind of cat who will follow you from room to room, share every quiet moment, and make you laugh with his dramatic “WOWs.” CHURCH isn’t for everyone — but for the right person who appreciates his uniqueness, understands the quirks of Oriental Shorthairs, and wants a deeply bonded feline soulmate, he’ll be unforgettable.
