Male Cat, Domestic Short Hair

Domestic Short Hair (Short Coat)

Description:

This cat is part of our shelter outreach program where we take pets from overcrowded shelters in hopes of finding them a forever home here! We generally do not have much background info on them. They are all up to date on vaccines, spayed/neutered and microchipped. FIV/Felv negative. Update 3/7/24 - After monitoring Benjamin we notice some GI upset and increased urination. We repeated bloodwork and found that he is diabetic. To mange his diabetes we changed his Rx food and started him on 2 units of insulin once a day. This can change since he's still early in his diagnosis and we are in the stage of monitoring his blood glucose levels and conducting blood glucose curves. We hope that we see significant improvement in his GI health, decrease urination and weight gain with the treatment of his diabetes. We have already seen positive changes in his behavior. Benedict is more social, meowing more (he was so quiet) and wanting to explore more. 1/16/24 10 years old. Transferred from an overcrowded NJ shelter due to his desperate need for a dental. Sadly this poor was not well cared for at all. We took care of Benedict dental needs and now he has a whopping 3 teeth left! We are hoping with some better nutrition and a lot of TLC his coat and spirits will improve. He is now ready to find a family to live out his golden years with. He is a quiet boy and a little shy when first meeting him. With some petting and brushing you can get his purr motor running. He will be a great couch buddy. *On Rx food. Eats Hill's W/D dry and Hills K/D canned. *Per JSAC policy, puppies and kittens under 6 months will not be adopted to families with children under the age of 6 years.
