Male Cat, Domestic Short Hair
Domestic Short Hair (Short Coat)
Description:
Buoy - Male DOB 4/29/2022 Domestic Short Hair - Black and White Buoy is one handsome, laid-back tuxedo who is happy just exploring his surroundings and enjoying the easy life these days. After having to fend for himself outside, he’s soaking up every bit of comfort and safety he can find now that he’s with us. Buoy gets along well with other friendly cats and would be just as content going home as an only kitty, as long as he gets plenty of love and attention. He seems to take everything in stride and doesn’t have a care in the world now that he knows he’ll never have to hunt for his next meal again. With a slow, proper introduction, he’d likely be fine with a respectful dog, and he’d do well with gentle, kind kids, too. Buoy recently was diagnosed and recovered from rhinitis which is an inflammation of the nasal passages in cats. There are several factors that could cause this such as Feline herpesvirus (FHV) and feline calicivirus (FCV), as well as various allergens. This causes sneezing and a stuffy nose and is not contagious to people or other pets. He is clear of any symptoms and not on any medications at this time, and our vet has indicated that it could flare up at times like people's allergy's do at times. Cats with this diagnosis can still live a normal, happy life, and the symptoms may come and go, like “allergy season” with people. He is on a daily dose of over the counter L-Lysine powder to help with his immune system. This has not affected his personality and affection in any way. A cat with chronic rhinitis just needs a little extra TLC during flare-ups — but otherwise, they can be as loving, playful, and healthy as any other cat! Buoy has not had any exposure to dogs but with a slow introduction with a cat-friendly dog, he would probably do ok. He would also do fine with older respectful children.
