Male Cat, Domestic Short Hair

Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (Short Coat)

Description:

Meet Olaf! This handsome guy with adorable little ear tufts is as affectionate as they come. He loves curling up on our laps for naps and keeping us company wherever we settle down. He’s also become a huge fan of cuddling right next to us while we sleep! He’s friendly and happiest when he’s close to his people. Olaf is a very active, playful kitten and will need daily playtime to burn off his energy and keep him happy and well-behaved. Interactive toys and regular play sessions will be key to helping him thrive—lately, he has been LOVING chasing after springs, carrying them around, and bringing them back to his little toy hoard! He’s also very good about using scratching posts, and I haven’t observed him trying to scratch any furniture. One thing to know: for the first five months of his life, he lived with a dog and didn’t have feline friends, so he’s still learning how to play politely with other cats and recognize when to stop. He is definitely improving, but he would do best with younger, more active cats who can match his energy—or potentially a dog best friend, as he seems to like everyone! Older cats just may not appreciate his enthusiasm. Olaf is vetted, neutered, and all set for his forever home. He’s fully litter box trained, doing great with his house manners, and would thrive with an adopter who understands kitten energy, can help him continue learning good social skills, and is excited to gain a loyal lap companion. If you’re looking for a sweet, cuddly, playful kitten with a big heart, Olaf could be your perfect match! Olaf is from a stray surrender. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals. Want to adopt a kitten? We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners.
