Description:

Not all cats have a good start. Dorothy unfortunately has had her share of issues and heartbreak, but now she is looking for someone to make sure she won't face that pain ever again. This beautiful girl started life as a stray, lost her babies after a harrowing medical issue, and now is battling heartworm. She will need her hero to be patient and give her grace as she heals. This rough start has made Dorothy a bit of a tough cookie. She's going to need time to get used to her surroundings. While she may not quickly warm up, the wait will be worth it. While she's busy making you think she has everything all together, in her mind she's not so sure. The lucky human who gets to take her in will need to understand that it's going to take some adjustment and patience with her. Once she knows she is home, she will make sure to keep tabs on you. Dorothy will make sure you are safe, provided you give her that feeling in return. As for other pets, especially dogs, if they accept her, she will do well with them. Dorothy is the kind of girl that needs to know you are ok with her before she accepts people or animal companions. With her heartworm treatment, she will also need to have time to heal. Peace and rest will be very important in the beginning, so while she would love to have animal siblings, they will need to give her a little space to heal. If you can find a spot in your family for this beautiful void, Dorothy will make an excellent cat. Prepare yourself for a lifetime of leg rubs and bathroom check-ins. Let's help her click her paws and claws three times and get her home. If you are interested in meeting Dorothy, please email us at [email protected]. **All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. We believe in pediatric spay and neuter. All animals will be spayed or neutered, tested for FIV/FeLV or heartworm, given age-appropriate boosters and rabies, dewormed, flea treated, and anything extra that is needed to give this animal a wonderful forever life in a permanent home. Adoption fees are usually $50 for cats and between $150-$250 for dogs, unless the pet is sponsored or we are running a promotion. Please visit our website at sheltertohome.com for information on our adoption process.**
