Description:
This post has taken 3 very long years to be written...just hear us out. Hawkeye came to us in January of 2023 with 3 "siblings" that were found in a trailer park. We don't believe they had ever had a person or house to call their own, and boy did they act like it! They wanted nothing to do with us at the beginning...Hawkeye was definitely the most feral out of all of them. Over time, we were able to get 2 of them to trust us and they were adopted. This left us with Hawkeye and Loki (who is also still here). Hawkeye has always been a kitty who likes to look down at us from afar. If you were to get close to him, he would hiss at you and run. If you were to try to grab him, he would poop and run (nope, I'm not joking). This went on for well over a year, so we gave him space to come to us, in his own time. Over the last 6 months, Hawkeye has let his defenses down. He started to stay when we were near him, he would take lick stick treats from our fingers, and we knew we had a chance when he would come and sniff our hand when we were petting other kitties. After a couple more months, a few of our afternoon volunteers made a huge step and were starting to be able to pet him. Today, most people who comes into the room that sits on the floor gets to pet Hawkeye if they let him come to them. He loves getting booty scratches (which is even better because he has a nubby tail), head scratches and if you have treats for him, he is in total heaven! At 4 years old, Hawkeye has spent half of his life at the shelter, we would absolutely love if he could find his furever home with a family who is willing to let him come to them. Let him feel safe, loved and and allow him to be him. If you are looking for a kitty to join your family, please consider Hawkeye!!You may find me on our website under "ADOPT
