To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Witchie and Earl are a female-male bonded pair of two year old snugglers. Here’s what their foster humans say about them: How would you describe the cat's general personality? Witchie: more outwardly social and the type of cat that takes interest in everyone. Although she loves to be pet and loved, she also loves her solo time and will find a quiet place to snuggle up either by herself or with earl. Ultimately, even if you just met her, she will purr and rub up on you! Earl: more outwardly shy, but when you build trust, he is such a lovey cat. He tends to value his independence a bit more and will have more quiet solo time, but there are also many times in the day when he will find you, sit right on your lap, and fall asleep to your pets. Ultimately, he has so, so, so much love to give, you just have to be patient with allowing him to trust you. Does the cat enjoy being pet? They both love it! As soon as you start petting either of them they will purr and do whatever they want for more (sometimes even jump into your hand). Earl loves being pet under the chin and behind the ear as well as on his belly, and Witchie likes to be pet under her chin and her butt. Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? None that we have experienced! We think they get a little too overwhelmed if you rush over and try to grab them, but if you approach them gently, they fully submit themselves to you. Does the cat come on your lap? Earl: Yes! Earl loves to sleep on Sydney’s chest or under her chin. He also likes to sit on top of our legs Witchie: she likes to lean against our bodies, but not necessarily sit on top of us. She really likes to lay in between our legs or right up against us. Does the cat like to be held? Both are pretty indifferent. They do not try to escape, but they don’t necessarily show you that they find it super comfortable (ie. purring, etc.) Does the cat sleep in your bed? Yes! Both will jump up onto the bed and snuggle with whoever is sleeping there. Does the cat seek your attention? Yes! Usually when you walk into the room, Witchie will come find you and walk around you, rubbing against you. Earl will usually follow her and do the same. Does the cat like to play? From what we have seen they don't seem super interested, but we think with time they would warm up to it. They both really like the scratching post (and will actually only scratch that, not any of our furniture or rugs). Favorite game: snuggle and be pet. How vocal is the cat? Both are not very vocal. They will sometimes let out a couple quiet meows, but never super noticeable. However, they both frequently purr! What kinds of sounds does the cat make? Witchie: Once a day, specifically right in the morning she will make a little chirping noise, immediately followed by her approaching you and rubbing on you. Earl: When Earl is hungry or wants attention he will meow in close proximity to a person. He has a very loud adorable purr when he is resting throughout the day, and when he goes to sleep. Does the cat scratch a scratcher? Yes! Both Witchie and Earl do not scratch any furniture, they will only use their scratcher to scratch. Does the cat always use the litter box? Yes! Both Witchie and Earl use the litter box every time they need to go to the bathroom. What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? Every morning around 7am and every night around 6pm they are each given a half can of Royal Canin Indoor Morsels in Gravy (1.5oz each). Throughout the day there is always dry food available for them to eat. At night at around 6pm, they are fed the same amount of wet food and their dry food is replenished if they are hungry in the middle of the night. Is the cat picky about food? No! Witchie and Earl are not picky about their food. What is the cat's favorite treat? Witchie and Earl both LOVE a Churu of any flavor, as well as Friskies Party Mix: Chicken and Gravy flavors. Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? Both: never Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? Both: never Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? Both: never Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? Both: never To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? Witchie usually introduces herself first and relatively quickly. She is not fearful to go up to people, smell them, and immediately start rubbing on them. Earl will come greet new people after, but when he meets them he usually calmly lays against someone and purrs while they pet them. However, we noticed that Earl can get startled by really sudden movements by new people. With us roommates, he has gotten a lot more comfortable with staying snuggled on the bed while we get up and move around. If you have observed the cat with other animals, please describe how they get on? Have not observed either with other animals, however they love to watch the birds outside our window. Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? Witchie gets really obsessed with the birds outside of our window, so much to the point where she looks like she’s about to hunt them whenever they show up. She could be perfectly calm, and then jump up and sprint to the window to defend us against the birds. She also sleeps in really funny positions (like curled up in funny balls on her back) . Although he comes off shy, Earl is the true definition of a snuggle bug. When we lay on our beds, he gets so excited and immediately jumps up to hang out with us. It makes us feel like “oh he was waiting for me to come home.” Earl also likes to knock really loud things over (ie. Sydney’s metal water bottle off of her side table) just to get a reaction out of you. In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? Something that we frequently talk about is how not only interesting personalities both of these cats have, but how beautiful of a relationship they have. They are truly obsessed with each other. Whenever they are around each other, they are always snuggling, grooming each other, rubbing up against each other, and just overall loving each other. Wherever one goes, the other follows, and there is no sense of aggression or hate from either of them. We also found that they bring out the best in each other. For example, Witchie has taught Earl that it is ok to trust new people, and because of that, we are now able to see that he isn't just a shy cat, but a gentle, loving cat. What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? Right now, having had them for just less than a week, Witchie and Earl are still getting used to our apartment and are apprehensive about existing the room they were acclimated in. However, when it is dark and everyone is asleep they like to explore the house, and even wander into our beds to snuggle. They will also do this early in the morning if no one is out there. They have not yet been outside of their room during the day when people are in the main living area, but are very curious and we can expect soon they will become well adjusted.
