These two bonded sisters have been through so much and are still so brave and earnest. They came to me as terrified kitties who were skinny and unhealthy. Today they have blossomed into beautiful cats with their sleek black fur and shining yellow/green eyes. Winnie is more reserved and timid. She does like to follow me around: asks for treats, be a great guardian while I am in the bathroom, and watch cat tv on youtube on my phone or laptop. At dinner time she’s the one watching me from under the kitchen chairs, and a little more tentative to take treats but she’s learning. She’s come so far: from hiding under the bed for hours to now coming up on the bed for nighttime treats and setting in nearby for sleep. She isn’t ready to be petted but she does like to keep me company by being my shadow throughout the day and night. Minnie is the more adventurous one and is Winnie’s protector. They haven’t figured out that grooming each other is affectionate but they love to play together for hours, rolling around chasing each other and then settling in near each other for a good nap. Minnie will bop noses with me when she’s feeling brave, take treats from my hands and every once in a while sleep in the crook of my leg when it's chilly out. Winnie and Minnie are great cats for an experienced cat parent who is patient and willing to go at the girls’ pace and interest in affection. They have come such a long way and still have so much potential towards being affectionate. They love to be near me but aren’t sure about physical touch so they need someone that doesn’t push that on them but lets them pick when to be closer. One thing they will never stop asking for is playtime: they love feather wand toys and catnip filled mice. Being their forever owners will mean supporting them continuously on their socialization journey but it will be filled with sweet magical rewards as they let down their guards and realize they are finally safe.
