Description:
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Alder and Pine are a bonded pair of 5 month old kittens (sisters). This is what their foster volunteer says about them: How would you describe the cat's general personality? Alder is extremely friendly and absolutely adores attention. She has endless amounts of energy and could quite literally play all day. Pine is a little more reserved and will play but not to the extent that Alder does. She is calm and a well-natured soul. The two of them are the perfect balance of the other, ying and yang! Does the cat enjoy being pet? They both enjoy being pet but in short increments of time. They mostly enjoy under-the-chin and ear scratches and being stroked. It has taken them a couple weeks to warm up to us due, but I can honestly say that every day they both come more and more out of their little shells. Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? Belly scratches aren’t their favorite. Does the cat come on your lap? They haven’t come onto my lap yet but with their current track record I can guarantee that will happen soon. Does the cat like to be held? Being held isn’t their favorite and they become quite squirmy but to my point above I know with time that will definitely change. Does the cat sleep in your bed? They sleep in their own kitten bed huts, it is so cute! Does the cat seek your attention? Whenever I go downstairs to see them, they are always coming out of wherever they are to greet me. Does the cat like to play? Alder likes to play more than Pine but they both love to play with a tower of ball tracks and will play with each other using that, it truly is the cutest thing. They love a feather toy as well and will go in and out of their tunnel playing with one another. Another fan favorite is sparkly balls that they will bat around the room. How vocal is the cat? They aren’t vocal at all, I’ve only heard them meow a couple times in the last two weeks and it was barely audible. What kinds of sounds does the cat make? Mostly purrs! Does the cat scratch a scratcher? They adore the cat scratcher and use it multiple times a day. I almost have to buy a new one with all of the usage that it gets. Does the cat always use the litter box? They have religiously used the litter box since the moment they arrived at my house and have had zero accidents outside of the litter box. So well behaved! What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? They are both obsessed with the Applaws wet food in broth and the occasional Tiki baby wet food. For dry food they eat the Fromm kitten food. For treats they crave Purr Pops and will eat them right off the stick. Another favorite of theirs is Bonkers cat treats, specifically the seafood flavor. Needless to say they are very hungry kittens! Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? They have swatted at me when I’ve tried to bring them to a different location of the house but I take blame for that as I think it was a bit too soon for them to come out of their comfort zone of our finished basement. They have nipped during play but it was definitely in a playful manner as opposed to a fearful manner. No skin has been broken. To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? They are a bit timid at first but can sense that the people I bring around them are good people and will come around within the hour to whoever the new person is. If you have observed the cat with other animals, please describe how they get on? They both accidently had a run in with my 2 year old black cat Sabrina but it was Sabrina that was upset, they were just curious in the brief moment that they interacted with her. Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? They both have expressive and soft eyes and the softest of coats. I’ve also noticed that they will lay on their backs and knead and purr which is extremely precious. They have an equal balance of playful antics and wanting to rest in their little cat beds. Another quirk is that they love to watch mice videos on YouTube and their little heads will go back and forth following the mouse on the screen and bat at it. In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? Alder and Pine, despite their recent rough go at life, have brought nothing but joy to our household since we brought them in a couple weeks ago. They love to do everything together (eat, play, snuggle, groom one another) and are the perfect duo. Their personalities beautifully balance out each other and they truly are little lovebugs. I can honestly say that with each passing day they become more and more trusting, and we get to learn more about their personalities and traits. They are quick to greet us whenever we see them and have such a warm energy about them. If I didn’t have a cat that enjoys being the only cat in the household I would adopt them in a heartbeat. Life had been cruel to these little souls and they deserve nothing but the best and endless love, affection, play and treats! What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? Challenges include the timid nature of the two of them at times but I’ve found that the more patient and understanding I am the more they are apt to embrace me.
