Description:
Thanks for your interest in a pet from A.R.F.! If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/ Are you looking for a kitten who loves people as well as other cats? If so, I’m the perfect little guy for you! I’m a snuggly little guy! I often rub up on my foster mom’s legs and rest my tail against her to ask for pets. And once you start petting me I’ll purr like a little engine. If I hear another cat purring I’ll even run over and demand my pets and snuggles too. I can be a bit on the shy side when you first meet me, but I gain a lot of confidence playing with toys like my feather toy, as I’m an avid fake bird hunter in my free time. However I’m very confident meeting new cats, and I’ll headbutt and snuggle any and all new friends if they’ll let me (and sometimes even when they don’t). The way to my heart is definitely the presence of a playful and friendly cat who can show me that it’s okay to approach you and be confident in my home. My quirkiest trait is that I may sometimes playfully lick or nibble your fingers or toes! If you can’t find me, don’t worry – If I’m not snuggling with you or a buddy, I probably found a snuggly and warm cave that’s perfectly me-sized for a nap. Because I’m such a social and affectionate boy, my new home must have at least one other cat. I’m a gentle and sweet boy who never scratches, so I’d be okay around children who can respect my boundaries. I could share a home with a dog after a gradual introduction as long as they are respectful, calm, and can learn when I’d prefer to be left alone, otherwise they might overwhelm and scare me. In my ideal home my people are home most of the time so we can bond as I grow up, but I’ll be content with feline companions when my people aren’t home. We encourage you to consider adopting kittens in pairs! There are several reasons why Hickory would do good with a friend, including: -Two kittens keep each other entertained - they will play and get all their energy out on each other in time for snuggles with you! -Having two kittens to play with each other prevents "I'm lonely and bored" behavioral issues. -Watching two kittens wrestle is quite possibly the cutest thing you will ever see. -The kittens will teach each other "how to cat" and learn to be more social with humans and people. -You'll save two lives instead of one! Hickory is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, neutered, and litter box trained. Hickory's adoption fee is $165. Please note A.R.F. does not approve applications for any kitten under 6 months of age to families that live outside of Illinois and/or beyond 100 miles of Wheaton or Glen Ellyn, IL. Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation! We are based in Wheaton, IL and conduct adoption events in the DuPage County area. If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, please submit an adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/ Adoption appointments are scheduled based on the order of applications received, so submit your application early! Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions or schedule meetings until your application has been approved. More information about our adoption process can be found on our website here: https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/ As an all-volunteer, foster home-based organization, A.R.F. Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. Please visit https://www.arf-il.org/events/ for a list of our upcoming adoption events. Thank you for choosing to adopt, not shop!
