The devoted mama cat was named Waffles, and her son is Shústrik (a name meaning quick and lively in Russian), a sweet and curious young kitten (born on October 07, the best estimate). They came into foster care together and formed a strong, touching bond.Waffles is a protective and caring mother. When she first arrived, she was extremely fearful and spent most of her time hiding under the bed. With patience and gentle care, she made steady progress: she began coming out into open spaces and eventually allowed gentle petting. Waffles proved to be a calm, quiet cat who enjoyed good meals and long naps.Shustrik grew into an ideal little companion: moderately active, curious, and affectionate. He enjoyed exploring his surroundings and then settling down to sleep either with his mom or next to his foster human on the bed. He showed a clear preference for wet food and never missed mealtime.Waffles and Shustrik are very attached to each other, and their bond clearly brought comfort and confidence to them both. It is strongly recommended that they not be separated, at least during their initial transition into a forever home.
