Male Dog, Cattle Dog

Cattle Dog / Australian Shepherd / Mixed (Short Coat)

Description:

Bourbon arrived from the city pound on Oct. 2nd when his legal stray hold was finished and no one had claimed him. We think he's around a year old and he appears to be a mix of cattle dog and Australian shepherd. We'll throw in some border collie, too, just to make the herding breeding trifecta complete. He will need to be vet checked and neutered soon and his fee is $150. Bourbon is young, energetic, and enthusiastic about life. He seems to know some basic commands but will need more training. He's definitely new to leash walking. However, he's a mix of some very smart and trainable breeds. He will need a lot of exercise and fun to keep him happy. We do think he'd do okay with other dogs. Cats? We just don't know. Kids over 5 would be best as he still has a lot of puppy energy in him. NOTE: Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.
