I'm a special kitty who has overcome a major disability. Read alll about it by clicking on my photo.Michael was born in approximately the first week of June 2025. He was found alone in a field in mid-July with both eyes infected. Over the following months he received veterinary care, and the infection has healed. According to the veterinary ophthalmologist Michael was born without functioning eyeballs and his eyelids did not develop properly. At best he may be able to see some shadows or light with the right eye. He will need at least one surgery on one or both eyes as he gets a little older and will require eye drops at least once a day for the rest of his life. Other than being blind, in every other way Michael is a typical kitten. He loves to play, is affectionate, and begins purring the moment he’s picked up. Michael enjoys climbing the cat tower and always climbs down instead of jumping. Chasing a toy (with a bell attached) on a string is one of his favorite activities. His absolute favorite activity is wrestling with a very large cat in his foster home. (See video of Michael and Kino) There are also many dogs in his foster home, so he is used to their antics and barking doesn’t bother him. (See video of Michael and Heidi) Michael should be an indoor-only cat. However, he is comfortable being on a leash and going for daily walks or just investigating areas of the yard. See Michael walking on a leash in his video. Michael is quite self-confident and as he is becoming an adolescent is testing himself physically and with others. He would do best in a home with another playful cat. Michael will be neutered soon and we will know more about his eye surgery after an upcoming vet appointment.
